Dental care for children
Milk teeth matter. They help children chew and speak, and they hold space for the adult teeth that follow. Decay in milk teeth can cause pain and infection, and losing them early can lead to crowding later.
Pediatric dentistry focuses on prevention: regular check-ups, cleaning, fluoride to strengthen enamel and sealants that protect the grooves of back teeth, where most childhood cavities begin. When treatment is needed, it is done gently, with explanations a child can understand.
Early visits also build trust. A child who knows the dentist from relaxed check-ups is far less anxious if treatment is ever needed.
When to bring your child to the dentist
A first visit around the time the first teeth appear is ideal. Book a visit sooner if you notice:
- White, brown or black spots on the teeth
- Toothache, or your child avoiding chewing on one side
- Swelling of the gums or face
- Teeth that are coming in crooked or crowded
- Thumb-sucking or mouth-breathing that continues past the early years
- A tooth knocked or chipped in a fall
What happens at your child’s visit
We keep visits short, calm and positive.
A relaxed introduction
Your child meets the dentist and sees the chair and instruments before anything begins.
Gentle examination
We check teeth, gums, bite and how the adult teeth are developing.
Preventive care
Cleaning, fluoride and sealants where they will help.
Treatment if needed
Fillings or other care, explained to you and your child first.
Tips for parents
Brushing, diet and habit advice suited to your child’s age.
Healthy habits at home
Small daily habits prevent most childhood tooth decay.
- Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste: a smear for toddlers, a pea-sized amount from about age three
- Help with brushing until your child can do it well, usually around age seven or eight
- Keep sweets, juice and sticky snacks to mealtimes rather than all day
- Avoid putting babies to bed with a bottle of milk or juice
- Keep six-monthly check-ups
Children’s dentistry in Ghatkopar & Kurla with Dental Solutions
Families choose us because the whole family can be seen in one place: children’s check-ups, a parent’s cleaning and a grandparent’s dentures, at the same clinic.
Both clinics, in Kurla West and Ghatkopar West, are open into the evening, so visits can be after school. As children grow, we keep an eye on how their teeth are lining up and advise if orthodontic treatment may help.
